Music Workshops

There's nothing quite like getting your hands on electric guitars and imagining you're the next big rock star!

After some guidance on making a percussion instrument, Spoz encourages the students to warm up, by using the instrument they've made themselves, in a popular song they all know.

After a brief explanation of acoustic and electric guitars (watch out, there's even a little basic science here!), Spoz encourages a ‘hands on' approach, where ALL the students are given the opportunity to handle the electric guitars, something most Key Stage 1 & 2 students may never have done (and may not again)!

The day usually ends with a whole school performance of an appropriate song (or two!), encouraging participation from everybody, to whatever degree they're comfortable at.

Spoz's workshop structure supports the national curriculum for music at Key Stage One and Two

Combining Music and Words / Poetry

Usually undertaken with single classes (Key Stage One, Two or Three) and can consist of:

•  ‘Sound and Vision' – turning music into words with ‘word bursts' and writing, inspired by selected pieces of music.

•  Rap and Hip Hop lyrics using beats and loops, all from my Yamaha DJX2 keyboard.

•  Writing and recording a song for the school with accompanying acoustic guitar tracks.
